On Monday, April 17, Housing Forward welcomed more than 200 guests to the annual Progressive Dinner to help those in the community that are experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. The event, now in its 15th year, was hosted in three locations in Oak Park, Winberie's, Oak Park Brewing Company and L!ve Cafe, and included donations from Buzz Cafe, The Cheesecake Stand, Cucina Paradiso, and The Happy Apple Pie Shop.
Funded by the Future Philanthropists Program of the Oak Park River Forest Community Foundation the student council of the Mann School in Oak Park and other students have coordinated educational kits to be used by the children in our PADS Shelter along with birthday presents for the children in our housing programs. Thank you to Laura Jordahl, both volunteer and donor to Housing Forward for coordinating this project with the students.
On Sunday, March 19 at 8:30 a.m., join the Oak Park River-Forest Community Foundation in their first annual Share The Warmth Relay Race! Share The Warmth was inspired by a great Oak Park & River Forest tradition of sharing stories about our beautiful towns. The effort hopes to engage members of the community to spread messages of good cheer as well as raise awareness and funds for non-profit organizations, including Housing Forward.

On Saturday, November 19, River Forest Kitchen, at 349 Ashland Ave., will once again host their annual Thanksgiving Market on Saturday, November 19th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 4th, the Board of Trustees and Anan Abu-Taleb, President of the Village of Oak Park proclaimed October 2016 as Housing Forward's 25th Anniversary Celebration Month and encouraged all citizens to recognize the need for community support and engagement to positively impact and transform the lives of those in our community in need. Thank you to St. Edmund and St. Giles for so generously supporting Housing Forward’s “Open Door Housing” program for individuals and families who are homeless and have a disabling condition. Their substantial contribution of furnishings and supplies will fill 8 apartments for clients moving from the PADS shelter into stable, permanent housing. As we continue to provide families and individuals with stable housing and support, donations of “House to Home” kits provides them the comforts of home.
The Empty Bowls Community Dinner, benefiting Housing Forward, will take place on Friday, February 26th from 6 pm to 8 pm at OPRF High School.
