K.R. came to Housing Forward in June of this year after losing her home and fleeing a volatile situation. She had been staying in a family shelter in the city when she called our Homeless Prevention call center. As she had already lost her home, she was referred to Jessica in our Rapid Re-Housing Program. K.R. had managed to keep her new job, but had to work part-time between the commute from the city and two children to care for – one with special needs. Housing Forward helped find housing, secured her deposit that allowed her to move the three of them into a new apartment closer to her job. Now that she has a home, she plans to increase her hours to full-time to enable her to maintain her stability for herself and her children.
