AmeriCorps Members Participate in National Day of Remembrance

Thursday, September 11th was a National Day of Service and Remembrance for all AmeriCorps members in the state of Illinois. Several of West Suburban PADS’ AmeriCorps members participated in this event by serving dinner to the officers of the Maywood Police Department, in appreciation for their work as the community's first responders. The goal of the National Day of Service is to provide a positive way for all people to forever remember and pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, honor those that rose in service in response to the attacks, and remind people of the importance of working more closely together in peace to improve our world. The experience was an extremely positive one for our members, and they are looking forward to taking part in next year's service project.
