Community Nurse Health Association Provides Dental Care to PADS Clients

In surveys conducted by the federal government, dental care consistently ranks as one of the top three unmet needs for homeless individuals. Dental problems are a significant barrier to becoming stable, as they make seeking and obtaining employment very difficult. For many of our clients, their last visit to the dentist was years ago, and they must do the best they can to get by. A partnership with the Community Nurse Health Association (CNHA) in LaGrange has gone a long way to fixing that. The CNHA recently received grant funding to serve homeless individuals at no cost to the client. This funding has provided PADS clients with a place to go for all their dental needs, from emergency procedures to cosmetic appointments. This has resulted in cavities filled, crowns molded and dentures received, among many other services. The best part? These services are provided for up to a year after the client is housed, which means that dental care is one less thing to worry about on the transition back to stability.
