Housing Forward Open House of New Oak Park Office - September 22
Housing Forward will hold an Open House on Friday, September 22, from 4pm – 6pm, at their new office at 6634 W. Roosevelt Road in Oak Park featuring tours of the new office space, program highlights, and the unveiling of the designated Walk-In Center for Entry Point. “The Open House coincides with our end of the year celebration of 25 years of service to the community and offers a perfect opportunity for our partnering agencies, our local municipalities and leaders, funders as well as volunteers, supporters, and other interested stakeholders to hear about the programs and services that have helped thousands of households in our community,” states Lynda Schueler, Executive Director of Housing Forward. Last year alone, more than 800 people were helped with $84,406 in direct, emergency financial assistance and short stability services. An additional 170 people were assisted with Employment Readiness services.
The new office is also a designated location for Entry Point, one of four suburban Cook County Walk-In Centers. Entry Point is the newly adopted process for coordinating, prioritizing and matching resources available to individuals and families at-risk or experiencing homelessness across suburban Cook County. The Walk-In Center, open weekdays and early evenings on Tuesdays, will provide in-person, comprehensive intake and referrals and quickly and effectively match them to the most appropriate and available resources.
“Entry Point is a cross-regional collaboration of homeless providers from throughout suburban Cook County to help those individuals and families who are identified as the most vulnerable,” explained Cristy Harris, Coordinated Entry Program Director at Housing Forward, who is leading the training and implementation with our nine partnering agencies. “It’s been a collaborative experience and it’s gratifying to work in partnership to identify and find housing solutions for those that need it most with the ultimate goal of ending chronic homelessness and veteran homelessness,” added Harris.
