Midwinter's Tales
Join us at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 5th for Midwinter's Tales: Sweet Home December, which celebrates not only the end of the year holidays, but also the opportunities they afford for hospitality and generosity. December 5th is the night before the first night of Hanukkah and this year the Oak Park Festival Theatre offers, along with poetry and song, yet another tale of that miraculous holiday as celebrated in the mythical village of Chelm. Christmases, merry and otherwise, will also be recalled as the Artistic Associates of Oak Park Festival Theatre are joined by members of the community and the Unity Temple Singers to welcome the season of wonders.
The performance will be in a new home, Grace Episcopal Church, and the focus this year, in keeping with Prevail becoming a program of Housing Forward, will be on the joys of home and the blessings of welcoming in others to share your light and love all the year around.
Following the performance guests are invited to a festive reception with the opportunity to win bountiful gift baskets to savor or share. Tickets for prize drawings are $5 each or $20 for five.
Tickets for the performance are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and $10 for students, under 12 free if tickets are bought in advance (additional $5 for each at the door). Advanced tickets are available at: Oak Park Visitors’ Center, 1010 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL 60301 OR online at the Oak Park Festival Theatre OR by phone at 708.445.4440. Proceeds will benefit Housing Forward’s Prevail Program and Oak Park Festival Theatre.
