New Oak Park Venues Add a Twist to the 15th Annual Progressive Dinner
On April 17th, past attendees of the Progressive Dinner may be surprised by a major event change. During this unique dining experience, guests enjoy three courses at three Oak Park restaurants. This year, two new venues will be featured- Oak Park Brewing Company for appetizers and Live Café for desserts. “We are hoping that switching up the venues will give those that have been coming to this event for many years a renewed experience,” says Janet Gow, Director of Development and Communications. “And it gives them a chance to try new places.” Winberie’s, the longtime event-goers favorite, will continue to offer their wonderful entrée selection of cedar planked salmon, chicken marsala and penne aglio olio.
Oak Park Brewing Company is one of Oak Park’s first brewpubs since the prohibition. The main dining area is separated from the brewing equipment by a glass wall so guests get to enjoy their local brew while watching the magic happen. In addition to their house-brewed beers such as the Frank Lloyd Rye IPA and the London Britches Porter, they also offer guest drafts from other Chicagoland area breweries. Connected to Oak Park Brewing Company is Hamburger Mary’s Show Lounge, which hosts nightly entertainment and shows. They both offer the same food and drink menu so guests can choose which atmosphere they prefer.
Oak Park Brewing Company’s neighbor, Live Café celebrated their grand opening this month. Serving high quality coffee, sandwiches, pastries and other treats daily, Live Café also hosts events that aim to spark community discussions and self-empowerment. Owners Darrel and Reesheda Washington hope their environment inspires authentic connections, especially between the communities of Oak Park and Austin.
