Supportive Housing Director Aimee Dinschel Joins Advocacy Effort in Springfield
Last week, Supportive Housing Director Aimee Dinschel traveled to Springfield with the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless to advocate for our clients in the budget process. During the trip, Aimee and the group (which included several individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness) met with several lawmakers to discuss the impact the proposed budget would have on those we serve. She reports that the meetings were productive, and the group came away from it feeling as though they had an impact. Another day of advocacy is planned for early May.
If you'd like to make sure your voice is heard in the budget making process, you can call or write your elected officials or the members of the state Appropriations Committee for Human Services to tell them how important funding for homeless services is to their constituents.
