Building Healthier Communities Project Launches Advertising Campaign

Since early 2024, Housing Forward, Live4Lali, and Loyola’s Street Medicine team have partnered on a project aimed at reducing the negative physical and mental health outcomes associated with opioid use. Every Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability can access a range of services and resources at Live4Lali’s mobile outreach truck in Maywood.
In its first year, the program saw more than 1,000 visits from 540 different people. During that time, community members received thousands of harm reduction supplies, including fentanyl test strips, Naloxone, and clean syringes. Loyola’s Street Medicine team provided wound care and basic health services, while Housing Forward distributed hygiene and snack kits and offered connections to housing case management. In addition to immediate care, visitors to the truck are connected to comprehensive clinical and supportive services.
This effort is funded through the Cook County Department of Public Health’s Building Healthier Communities Initiative and will continue through 2025. Plans are underway to expand outreach by adding truck locations in Berwyn this year.
To help spread the word about this program, we recently launched a series of ads in PACE bus shelters and on CTA platforms throughout Broadview, Berwyn, Cicero, Maywood and Forest Park. Keep an eye out for them in your community!
