Extra Emergency Shelter volunteers needed over the holidays

We are grateful to our regular shelter volunteer shelter teams and host sites for welcoming clients for extra time during the holidays. We will have staff on duty but appreciate greatly extra volunteer support during the times underlined below. Dec. 24^th Christmas Eve

First United Church of Oak Park, 848 Lake St., Oak Park

Shelter opens early and stays open until noon the following day.

Shelter opens early 3:00 – 6:30pm; Need additional volunteers to assist with site during the extra time until all clients must leave shelter in order to prepare shelter for that evening

First United Church of Oak Park has (2) services that clients are welcomed to attend, 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm (pageant) and 9:00 – 10:00 pm.

First shift: 6:30 – 7:30 pm; Normal activity for all groups for a night of shelter.

7:30 pm – 7:00 am;  Shelter opens; all times are the same as a normal night of shelter. 7:45 pm, Dinner served as usual, lights out @ 10:00 pm.

Second, shift: 10:30 pm – 5:00 am; Need some coverage time here until 7:00 am.

Third shift, 7:00 am – 9:30 am; Client wake up @ 8:00 am, breakfast served 8:30 am. Shelter staying open from 9:30 am until it closes at 12:00 pm. Need some volunteer coverage anytime between 8am and noon when shelter closes.

 

December 25 Christmas Day

Oak Park Temple, 1235 N. Harlem Ave., Oak Park

Shelter opens early and closes regular time the following day.

Shelter opens early 3:00 – 6:30pm Need additional volunteers to assist with site during the extra time until all clients must leave shelter in order to prepare shelter for that evening

First shift 6:30 – 7:30 pm; Normal activity for all groups for a night of shelter.

7:30 pm; Shelter opens; all times are the same as a normal night of shelter. 7:45 pm, Dinner served as usual, lights out @ 10:00 pm.

Second, shift (10:30 pm – 5:00 am) Third shift, 5:00 am – 7:00 am; Client wake up at 5:30 am, breakfast at 6:00 am, shelter closes at 6:45 am.

 

December 31 New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
