We ask those interested in donating items limit the ammount to one bag or box and deliver it in one of two ways:
1. Contact Etta Martin to schedule future donations at (708) 338-1724 ext. 220 or etmartin@housingforward.org.
2. We welcome donations dropped off at our main office ONLY ON TUESDAYS FROM 9 am to 4 pm which is located at 1851 S. 9th Ave., Mayood, IL 6015. We kindly ask that nothing be left outside the building at other times or at shelter sites, or at our Oak Park Walk-in Center.
What we MOST NEED and CAN accept:
Unopened travel-size toiletries
New or gently used twin-sized sheets & blankets New pillows and new or gently used pillowcases New or gently used kitchen or bath towels
Sleeping bags (for street outreach teams) Water-repellant outerwear NEW socks, NEW underwear and NEW white t-shirts New or gently used sneakers & boots
Paper goods (compostable preferred) Food items (sugar, powdered creamer, decaf coffee) Over-the-counter medications (unopened and not expired) Medical Supplies (new & unopened) Reading glasses (new or used) Cleaning Supplies Backpacks (adult size) & water bottles CTA passes & gifts cards from major retailers
What we CANNOT accept:
Items that are NOT gently used or clean
Matresses and box springs Mattress pads Large appliances Items not in proper working condition Items with missing pieces or parts Torn, soiled or otherwise damaged upholstered furniture Computers more than three years old Large console model TVs and stereos Non-cable-ready TVs Black and white TVs Recalled items such as infant furniture, car seats, exercise equipment, baby cribs, strollers, carriages, playpens/play yards or children’s items containing lead or phthalates
