Housing Forward to benefit from Thanksgiving Market at River Forest Kitchen
On Saturday, November 19, River Forest Kitchen, at 349 Ashland Ave., will once again host their annual Thanksgiving Market on Saturday, November 19th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Continuing its annual celebration of showcasing local artisans and culinary cuisine, the River Forest Kitchen welcomes guests to meet the area’s local artisans, sample their products, buy directly and/or place orders to be picked up at River Forest Kitchen – proving to be your one-stop shop for Thanksgiving fixings and holiday needs. This year will be even more special with a guest appearance from River Forest’s own, Addison Osta Smith, winner of Season 4 MasterChef Junior and Housing Forward supporter.
“We are honored to be the beneficiary of the River Forest Kitchen Thanksgiving Market this year and have Addison join us in support of our mission,” said Lynda Schueler, Executive Director of Housing Forward. “Through the support we receive from attendees at the market, we will continue to transition individuals from housing crisis to housing stability.”
For just a taste of what shoppers will find at the market, Pastiche Floral will offer unique floral centerpieces for those looking to adorn their dinner tables. Rare Bird Preserves will have an assortment of jams and preserves and Buttercream Bakery will offer decorated sugar cookies, cupcakes and brownies. Head’s Red BBQ, New Rose Catering and Carnivore will have appetizers, sides and more.
“The purpose of the event is to provide shoppers with an opportunity to do their Thanksgiving shopping all at once; turkeys, side dishes, soups, pies, and more,” said Adam Friedberg of Brand & Company and co-founder of River Forest Kitchen. “It’s simple, head to River Forest Kitchen and you won’t have to worry about going from store to store to find high quality products and delicious food to make this year’s holiday your best one yet.”
Participating vendors include River Forest Kitchen tenants, such as Rare Bird Preserves, Bettyplum Handmade Confections, and Victory Dance Foods, Oak Park’s own Alioto’s Gift Shop, Counter Coffee, Carnivore and New Rose Catering, and classic Chicagoland favorites, like Buttercream Bakery, Head’s Red BBQ and Karl’s Craft Soups. Each vendor will have their own table to showcase and sell their goods and services, and will work with shoppers to arrange convenient product pick-up times.
