Oct. 8, Noon: Varsity Soccer Teams play at Triton College - 4th Annual Prevail Cup This annual event, now in its 4th year, is once again sponsored by Athletico and represents the sportsmanlike competition between crosstown "rivals" Oak Park River Forest High School and Fenwick High School boys’ varsity soccer. The winning team will get to keep the traveling Prevail Cup trophy (and bragging rights) for the year. Donations collected at this event benefit Housing Forward and allow us the opportunity to increase community awareness about issues facing many of our neighbors who are at-risk of losing vital basic necessities such as housing, heat and food. The Prevail Cup also raises money for Housing Forward's important work in the community. With that support, our neighbors facing financial and housing crisis will receive immediate and compassionate response to address their housing or financial emergency and can work with stability support, financial literacy and job readiness programs to develop life skills that will help them improve future stability.

Housing Forward has been fortunate to be able to help those in our community for the past 24 years and one of the most important assets we have is the wealth of talented and caring volunteers that help us achieve our mission. Our volunteers are vital to us, annually giving thousands of hours of their time and resources, they exemplify kindness, compassion and treat everyone with dignity and respect, whether or not they have a home. They truly touch the lives of those who stay at the shelter and in turn, often the lives of volunteers are also changed. Volunteers are needed in the PADS Emergency Shelter to help set up and break down the shelter, prepare meals, and generally supervise the space to ensure a safe environment.

On May 24, the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held at the 19th Century Club in Oak Park to recognize and reward the 1000+ loyal volunteers that help Housing Forward bring programs and services to those in need in our community.
